Dear Youth Player's Parent,

Your son is becoming a left-brain player but you can reverse this and teach and guide him to be right-brained! The left-brain is important to stage the event, but right-brain actions are critical to carry out the event. For example, the left-brain often can't just sit back and let it happen.

Instead it gets in the way in the form of distracting self-talk... The player needs to develop a baseball belief system that evaluates success a different way.

The traditional views of success only create more left-brain domination.

There is a system that will allow the player to look at the game in a different way - to "undo" the programing that created so much left-brain thought and analyzing...

Ever been "in the zone"?

Did you notice how easy the at bat, the play, or the pitch was? And did you notice there was no sense of time? You were all right-brained when you were in the zone. You did not know you were in the zone until you were back out of the zone and your left-brain thought about it...

If you have not played baseball, then perhaps you participated in an activity that you were good at. Certainly you experienced "the zone". Baseball has so much time between pitches for the player (your son) to think and distract himself that getting into the zone is difficult. Yet this is the ultimate state of mind your son wants to be in to achieve more success.

Trying to get in the zone just keeps you out of it. It has to happen naturally. The best way for that to occur is to do things that shut down the left-brain allowing the right-brain to flow.
